Achiote oil
Achiote Oil is used to give your dishes color.
Recipe ingredients
½ cup Annatto Seeds
3 cups Canola Oil
Directions
- Put the Annatto seeds into a medium pot. Make sure the seeds cover the bottom of the pot.
- Add oil, and turn the flame to a little less than medium. When oil starts to bubble, turn the flame down to very low (almost off).
- Use a spoon and stir oil gently.
- Cook oil for another 5-10 minutes. When it is done, the oil will be very red, and don’t worry if it is a little dark.
- Take a strainer and strain the oil into a bottle or jar, and store on countertop, or wherever you wish.
